Welcome to what was the professional website for my consulting business, Hoekema Design & Editorial (HDE) also known as Hoekema Interactive.

Now that I am retired from a 40-year career in interactive design (who thought that was even possible?), and heading for the exit, I've changed this into a retrospective album of my personal and professional life.

Here's what you will find here:

• Designs - just the most interesing ones, at least to me.
• Writing - a mix of technical and more general-interest pieces, including 30 years' of holiday letters.
• Career - an excruciating account of my bizarre work history.
• Volunteer - local nonprofits for whom I have volunteered.
• Homes - the many places where I've lived.
• Families - my origin family plus marriages, relationships and such.
• Kids - Colin, Sanford & Emma growing up; Sanford & Emma in later years.
• Colin - a remembrance of my late son.

• Tunisia - images from my Tunisian archaeological dig in 1972.

So, what's with this "All About Me" stuff, you may ask - is this some kind of vanity site? Well, you could call it a sort of online personal photo album. I hope you find some of it interesing.
